Saturday Scribbles: Back To the Writing Fit

Hey, how's everyone?

Changed the blog name back to Writing Fit again. Thought it fit better. 😀

Working on my new author website 🌟 www.afwright.weebly 🌟 Might keep it free with the "weebly" added to it. Dunno. Getting humble and cheap in my old age. 😃 If it works, it works. Don't need to spend gobs if you don't have to. I only have free episodes on there now, anyway. Waste of time losing money over getting a proper domain name. Who knows...

Good thing to always remember: Start small, expand. What works for you? Free or a sophisticated domain? What motivates you best? Depends on what you deliver. Think smart. Make your mega ideas a reality, one step at a time.

Anyway, hope you're healthy, wealthy and wise! At least, one of them. See ya!

Thursday Tidbits: Two Free Short Stories

Hi, how's everyone?

I have a little surprise... I have two short stories to download for free! Yep, I currently have two different series going on (my mega one and this). This one is a spinoff of Little Women. It's 100% FREE, so download it at 🌟 afwright.weebly.com 🌟

Meanwhile, I write. 😃

Find yourself in a writer's block? Try rewriting one of your favorite books!

Happy writing!

Let Those Words Flow

Hi, how's everyone?

Totally ashamed of myself for being so negligent. Blame it on the low iron (yeah, I'm actually swallowing those iron pills without too much trouble - finally! 😀).

Back to... Writing!

Let those words flow. Start writing. Repeat. (I'm motivating myself, as well, to be honest. Think, think, think as Pooh would say.) Rewrite a thousand times, if you must. But scribble those words down before you forget 'em. Words are like clay. Once you have a mound of them you can make something out of 'em.

Have a great night!

Thursday Tidbits: Be Your First Audience

Hey, how's everyone?

Got a quick writing tip for beginner writers! Be your first audience.

Wanna write for a different age level? There's time for that later. Focus on your first story as YOU BEING THE AUDIENCE. What excites you? Write that. What do you relate to? Write that. And again. 😃

Tip #2: You can always do heavy editing afterwards to fit a different age level, genre, etc.

Happy scribbling, folks!

Let Your Genre Choose You

Hey, how's everyone?

Just stopping by today for a really quick tip: Let your genre choose you.

Naturally, you'll have to love what you write, too -- but it's very important to relax a little and write what you feel is really you. Then, mix it up. Add your favorite sub categories. Add a mystery. Delete that romance, haha. Well, do what you like. 😂 But just make it something different. This day and age, there's probably THREE MAIN POPULAR PLOTS! 🙈 Let's make it interesting!

Happy writing, pals!

Focus Friday: Fame or Fortune or Forgiveness?

Hello, how's everyone?

There's two things everyone wants, fame and fortune. But we overlook the other F word, forgiveness. When we fail, we beat ourselves up for not reaching "the top". We constantly tell ourselves we're useless. That we don't make a difference. That our efforts were nothing. We don't forgive ourselves for our mistakes.

But let's think differently. Let's keep remembering:

- Mistakes are milestones.
- Everyone has their unique purpose.
- We learn as we go.
- Use the gifts/talents we were given.
- Forgive ourselves for everything.
- Tell ourselves every day, "I was created to live my life, not someone else's."

It reminds me of a song that was written ages ago. Let The Lower Lights Be Burning. It came from a story about a ship on Lake Michigan during a storm. The big lighthouse was brightly glowing and could be seen for miles. But the ship crashed anyway. Why? There were smaller lights along the rocky shore that had failed to be lit; these little lights could have shown the sailors where the fatal rocks were.

So, next time you think your little light is not worth lighting, remember this story. Let your little light stay burning! 🌟

Hope you have a great weekend!

Thursday Tidbits: Don't Edit Your First Draft, Rewrite It

Hey, how's everyone?

Discovered (or rediscovered) a vital writing tip yesterday: Don't edit your first draft, rewrite it.

Your first draft is your blueprint. Treat it like one. Build your story from there.

The best way, they say, is to print your entire manuscript and rewrite each word, editing as you go.

But if you don't like wasting too much paper like me, here's another way. Open a new document; copy and paste one chapter into new file; start rewriting above the "first draft chapter" (deleting already used sentences as you go); repeat until you've rewritten the lot. Pronto! No waste either. 😃

Happy writing, pals!

Writers Wednesday Wisdom: How To Set A Schedule?

Hello, how's everyone...like eight months later? (Feels like it. I need to set a schedule, actually!)

Which is a good topic to talk about today...

Rather than give advice today, I'm asking for some...real...important...tips? What's your routine? Do you have one? Or not? Do you have any fun (not too complicated or takes too long) advice for a terribly good writing or blogging schedule? P-please write them in the comments below. (--Piglet 😃)

Thanks!
